The Folsom Family BLOGWelcome to our space! 24 Januar Suzy is changing jobsWell it is official. After 8 years with Malcolm Pirnie, Suzy is jumping ship to her favorite client, Tampa Bay Water www.tampabaywater.org She will be a project manager for projects that are in the conceptual and design phase. Suzy is excited but sad to be leaving her close friends at Malcolm Pirnie, and a little stressed with the whole transition. Steven has been amazingly supportive. (I love you!!)
The facts:
1) No, she is not going to municipal from consulting because it will be "easier" and "beneficial for her family"
2) Yes she took a pay cut, but they did offer more than she asked for, and more than she made last year.
3) No, she was not unhappy at Malcolm Pirnie
4) Yes, it will be a little longer commute, but now she will be passing horse farms, nurserys and fruit stands instead of the ghetto gas stations
5) Yes, her first job will be the Lithia 50 mgd ozone plant
6) Yes, she aspires to be the Sr. Manager of Projects and Planning in +/- 5 years, but knows this will be a challenge.
7) Yes, she will be working full time
8) Are the benefits better??? Don't know????
9) Yes she will be working in Clearwater on the 3rd floor (sunny side) in her own office with a door and furniture she gets to pick from a catalog, and the bldg has a gym! Woohoo!!
10) Her last day at MP will be Feb 4th and first day at TBW will be Feb 9th, the 2 days off will be for R&R and shopping
11) Yes she hopes MP wins all of her jobs, but will not cut them any slack when evaluating them against other consultants.
12) Yes this is the hardest decision she has had to make UGH!!
Wish her luck!
Oh, and Suzy has a facebook page now after being begged by family and friends
21 Dezember Christmas time already!!Hi! Its five days before Christmas and we don't have our Christmas cards out yet!! Sorry guys! They may be a little late this year. We have been busy as bees the last few months. I will try to get some new photos up soon.
The kids are growing up fast. Selma is fully potty trained Woohoo!
We will be traveling for the Holidays. Suzy's Mom is having Lasik surgery on her eyes, a follow up to cataract surgery that she has in September. Then its up to Tallahassee for Becky's baby shower!
We now have new flooring for the guest bathroom and have done nothing in almost 2 years with the remodeling tile we bought for our bathroom... There is something about having two kids that makes this difficult.
Suzy is training for another 1/2 marathon, but not quite as dedicated as last year. The weather has been great for training.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! 07 September San FranOur trip to San Francisco was fun, and it was great to see all the family out there! Eric did a great job of showing off his new City. Betty and Bobby met us in San Francisco. We also got to Sacramento to visit Roz Ron Liz Sophia and Nate! The kids had a great time together. We made it just in time before Liz and family moved back to MN.
Check out our pictures! We had many calamities and adventures. Items checked off the to do list: Golden Gate Bridge, Redwoods, Winery, Folsom Prison, Twin Peaks, Cliff house, Golsen Gate Park, Outside Lands Festival, Pier 39, BART, Cable Car, Zoo (san fran), Train Museum, Old Sac, Alamo Square, Uncle Eric's, Roz and Ron's... Next time? Hopefully there will be a next time!
We found out the Becky is going to be having a baby!! Woo Hoo! Hopefully we can make it up to Tallahassee some time to see the Garcia's and the Marsey's. 09 August Anniversary 20086 years! Thats how long we have been married now! We had a very nice evening on the town beggining with cocktails at Bar Louie and dinner at Roys, a Hawaiian fusion restaurant. Steven tried sushi for the first time and.... he loved it! It was some of the best I've tried. The entres were delicious too! I had a fish called butterfish, and it was by far the best fish I have ever had. Unfortunately I must have had a few too many drinks, because I lost my sunglasses somewhere along the way... ugh.
We finished the shed and it turned out very nice. We have lots of space in the garage now that we have fdilled up the shed. A huge thank you goes out to Bobby (Steven's Dad) for all of his help. Suzy got a good deal on 9 truckloads of fill dirt so we filled in the pool. About 1/3 of the yard is torn up from the dump trucks and from the tractor we rented. What a mess. We hope to save up for a few years and put in a nice pool and screened in enclosure. I really miss the pool.
I have been bummed out and missing my old friends lately. Ping is in Ft. Lauderdale, Jen's in Miami, Becky and Heather are in Tallahassee, Andy and Priti are in Orlando, Trish, Laura and Andrea are in Ft. Myers, Paula is in DC, Matt is in Alaska. I did have a fun evening at the Splitsville bowling alley with Angela. We were supposed to meet up with lots of old friends, but everyone canceled when the found out the guest of honor was not coming... I got several phone messages and emails from an old friend James Kennedy, but when he finally got ahold of me and found out I was married with children, the calls abruptly stoped... OK. I even miss Eric and Tyson! Who would have thought 7 years ago when we were all living over on Ranch Lake Circle that now they would both be living on the west coast, and Tyson has a new baby boy, Wyatt!! OK Suzy, stop whining...
Well,we are going to visit Eric in San Francisco in a few weeks. Woo Hoo! How are we swinging 2 vacations in 1 summer? We are going broke,
19 Juni SummertimeLately we have been constructing a shed/shelter on an existing 10'x10' slab in out yard. Check out our pictures from our latest vacation!! This year we went back to St. George Island and rented a hours with the Gibiser's. We also celebrated Beckham's first birthday!! 24 Februar GasparillaArrrr! Greetings from the Folsom's! Sorry its been a while since we have updated! With suzy back to work 30 hours per week and no nanny to clean the house any longer, there just never seems to be enough time in hte day to get everything done... Both kids are in daycare during the week now. They seem to be enjoying it. We have had our round of winter colds and sicknesses (croup, ear infections, flu...)
Suzy completed her first 1/2 marathon on February 10th. It was very fun! Steven and the kids were at the finish line to cheer her on. It was a great experience training and fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
So what is next for the Folsom's? Well there are always things to be done around the house... building a new shed, bathroom renovation, spring garden and yard work. We lost alot of plants with the freeze a few weeks ago. We have also lost the battle with our swimming pool :-( I guess we will have to fill it in and get a new one put in eventually...
We hope you are all doing well. Take care mates! 02 Januar Merry Christmas 2007We are so sorry we have not added anything since Halloween! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ! We have enjoyed seeing family and friends this year. If you got a Christmas card from us, consider your selves lucky! We only sent out about 25 this year, rather than our usual 70... The Folsom houshold has been busy. We really enjoyed all of the holidays this year, and hope that you did too!
The kids are doing great. I have a bunch of pictures to add! Beckham cut his first two teeth on Thanksgiving Day, and a third just after Christmas. Selma enjoyed the gifts at Christmas this year, and now she calls every baby she sees "Baby Jesus". Too cute!
Suzy's run/walk training is going well. She has trained up to 11 miles now. Unfortunately the little boy, Parker, that she was training for passed away just before Thanksgiving. It just makes her more determined to do something that will make a difference!
Steven suffered through his month off from the Bass Club, but is gearing up for his first tournament of the year at the end of the month. |
